Class Description
Modern dance encourages coordination, flexibility, strength, rhythm, spatial awareness, and style. The basics of modern dance technique, choreographic tools, and performing skills are introduced and honed, accompanied by eclectic musical styles, rhythms, and meters. Modern Jazz includes jazz vocabulary, including jumps, turns, leaps, and progressions across the floor. In Modern Jazz students sample a wide range of styles from Broadway to classical jazz and funk-inspired choreography.
Dress Code
Hair should be off the face and neck. Bare feet, dance paws, jazz shoes, or socks. Clothing that allows for movement and is secure enough to not need to adjust it (leggings, fitted tops or leotards, for example).
