Schedule subject to change
To enroll, please complete our registration form and email info@danspace.com. Registration deadline for in-person placement for Series 1 is September 1.
We needed to adapt some of our school policies to address the uncertainty of holding classes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you for understanding. Email info@danspace.com if you have any questions, concerns or circumstances that need to be attended to.
Due to the unpredictability of the pandemic, we cannot guarantee that your class will be able to meet in person for the full course of the series. If anything changes and it is not safe to meet in person in the studio, then classes will be moved to Zoom.
If you are joining a series after the start date or would like to attend a drop-in class, you are welcome to do so on Zoom. We do not offer late enrollment for in-person classes at this time.
Make-up Policy: If you know you will be absent from a class, email info@danspace.com to let us know the date you will be absent and to schedule a make-up class during the series in which the absence occurred. Classes are not transferable. Due to limited in person capacity, make-up classes must be completed virtually on Zoom. No refunds or credits are given for unused make-up classes.
If you are enrolled in a series and are assigned to a pod that rotates to meet for class in the studio, we may not be able to coordinate switching assigned dates to accommodate the event of an absence. We are unable to switch pod assignments after the first week of class. If you know that your assignment will conflict with your schedule, email info@danspace.com right away to address schedule conflicts so that we can do our best to accommodate your needs.

Instructor: Mary Armentrout
An opportunity for emerging choreographers everywhere!
This class is a combination of class/lab time, independent rehearsal time, and feedback time. You will embark on the creation of a dance after a period of small studies and after settling on a topic that interests you, guided by Mary Armentrout, award-winning, internationally-acclaimed choreographer. This class is open to teens and adults.
Mary Armentrout is a teacher, choreographer, dancer, and Feldenkrais Practitioner and the director of the Mary Armentrout Dance Theater (MADT). Over the years she has taught movement and dance to many varieties to people ages 4 to 60+. Her understanding of movement and the human body is informed by her decades of study of Contemporary Modern Dance, Ballet, Butoh, Aikido, Authentic Movement, Alexander Technique, and of course the Feldenkrais Method. Working across disciplines, her experimental choreographic works attempt to viscerally engage and complicate aspects of intentionality, presence, identity, and being-in-the-world for her audiences and recently garnered an Isadora Duncan Dance Award. Her work has been presented at numerous venues all over the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as across the US and the UK, Europe, and China, recently touring to the Brighton Fringe and appearing in the San Francisco International Arts Festival.

*Intergenerational means there may be students of various ages in class. If we were holding these classes in person, they would be offered for students ages 10-14. However, we know many teen and adult students are looking to add an additional class during the week and/or learn choreography as a way of exploring technical training, and the levels align well with our Beginning Adult classes. Since we’re all dancing alone in our homes, we’re using these classes to explore what virtual intergenerational classes can be like. Dancing with students of different ages is a great opportunity to learn and explore in new ways. Younger bodies and more seasoned bodies move differently, brains learn differently, and yet we are all doing the same movements together – an exciting opportunity to see and learn things from different perspectives and deepen our dance educations. You are welcome to try the first class to see how it feels to dance intergenerationally!
